Fever in babies: no fear but constant temperature control
Fever, very common in children, is a cause of great concern, yet it is advisable that the parent never panic even if the fever is very high. Let's try to understand better.
A healthy child between 2 and 6 years old can have a fever several times a year but this does not constitute a danger to his health.
Babies who go to the nursery get sick more often than those who don't go there, and this happens for a very simple reason: the fever depends on the fact that the immune system responds naturally to contact with a microbe (almost always a virus ) that he had never met and against which he does not have sufficient antibodies. These microbes do not live in the air but in the organisms of other people, so the more people they meet closely, the more microbes the child encounters on their way. A child who stays at home meets a limited number of people, while those who go to the nursery meet many children every day, their parents, kindergarten staff and other people: this is why they come into contact with many microbes.
In case of fever in children, what to do? Having a fever is not a good reason to go to the emergency room, for the reasons described above. It is strongly not recommended to rush to the hospital just because you may not have been able to contact your doctor, or because the drug administered did not cause the temperature to drop immediately.
As for antifebrile drugs, it must be said that they are not always effective, since not all fevers are the same and not all children respond to drugs in the same way.
This winter, however, the emergency linked to Covid-19 will presumably still be present so, even if newborns seem to be touched less strongly than adults, it is good to respect the rules described above with the foresight to keep them constantly and continuous monitoring of the infant's body temperature.
It is therefore not good to check the temperature every few hours, but to have constant control.
48h FEVERMONITOR
In this, the 48h FEVERMONITOR, 100% MADE IN ITALY liquid crystal thermometer designed specifically for newborns, is able to monitor the temperature continuously for up to 48 consecutive hours.
The practical and small shape and the back of the 48h FEVERMONITOR adhesive thermometer allows it to be applied to the forehead of the newborn without this having discomfort.
